GOLDEN FIR
Golden Fir represents my most significant creative endeavor, born out of a journey that started in 2019 when I suffered a shoulder injury while snowboarding. Faced with this setback, I decided to channel my energy into a project that became a true labor of love, one that combined my passions and values. Through Golden Fir, I've combined various aspects of my life that hold significance while placing a strong emphasis on sustainability and celebrating individuality.
During a trend towards polymer clay, I embraced wood as my primary medium to showcase my love for the outdoors. Unlike polymer clay, which is derived from plastic, wood aligned with my commitment to sustainability since it could be composted. My creative process involved crafting sets of 3-6 earrings, each with its own distinct color scheme, making every piece a unique and must-have item. To further emphasize individuality, I hand-painted both sides of each item, further enhancing the uniqueness of each creation. This approach made my products not only sustainable but also irresistible and in high demand, often selling out quickly.
As Golden Fir’s online presence continued to grow so did in-person opportunities. We began working in larger markets and selling our products in multiple stores throughout Oregon. In 2021 I brought a partner on board who designed items such as scrunchies, hats, and small bags. Utilizing upcycled fabrics to mesh with Golden Fir’s Brand Identity, we were able to collaborate bringing in potential clients who would have not fallen in the initial customer base. In the years that followed, Golden Fir blossomed into a thriving business that exceeded all my expectations. What started as a response to a personal setback became a journey filled with creativity, sustainability, and boundless growth.
